Deadlines and Timescales
It is in your interest to apply as soon as possible after applications open on 1st September. Check the Subjects and courses section and Costs and funding section for information on course closing dates and any other deadlines which may apply to you. If no closing date is shown, the deadline for applications is two months before the start of the first term of the course (31 July, 31 October and 31 January for starts in October, January and April respectively). We may not be able to process your application as soon as it arrives due to the volume of applications we receive; but the date will be recorded for deadline purposes.
We will not process late applications.
Please note that the closing dates shown are those for paper applications. Closing dates for online applications are TWO WEEKS EARLIER than these dates.
If you are applying for funding in parallel with your academic application, see Costs and funding. Please note that funding deadlines may be significantly earlier than course closing dates. We recommend that you apply for funding as early as possible. If you are a European Union or overseas national, you can apply for Cambridge Trusts funding on the Graduate Application Form (GRADSAF). Please see the Costs and funding section for more information.
Starting dates: 2010-11
The academic year begins on 1 October and ends on 30 September. It is divided into three terms, which in 2010 - 11 are as follows:
Michaelmas Term: 1 October - 19 December
Lent Term: 5 January - 25 March
Easter Term: 17 April - 25 June
Almost all graduate courses start in October, but it might be possible to start a course of research in January or April.
